Welcome to Raising Rooted Arrows: Homemaking, Simple Living and Encouragement for the Busy Stay-at-home Mom.

Posted on June 1, 2025August 2, 2025 by Courtney

Hi friend,

I’m so glad you’re here. If you’ve stumbled across this little corner of the internet looking for encouragement, inspiration, or just someone who “gets it” — you’re in the right place.

My name is Courtney, and I’m a mama of six, a homemaker, a garden-grower, chicken-tender, bread-baker, and big believer in doing motherhood with intention — but also with grace. Raising Rooted Arrows was born out of a desire to create a place where real moms could come for real help, without the pressure to have it all together.

Because let’s be honest: motherhood is beautiful, but it’s also messy. It’s full of loud kitchens, mismatched socks, and meals that get cold while you wrangle a toddler. But it’s also where some of the deepest growth happens — both in our children, and in us.

Why “Raising Rooted Arrows”?

The name is inspired by the idea that our children are like arrows (Psalm 127:4), and we are the ones shaping and aiming them. But before they’re ready to fly, they need deep roots. That means nurturing their hearts, modeling love and patience, and yes — sometimes just keeping everyone fed and clean by bedtime.

Here, I’ll be sharing:

  • Whole food, from-scratch meals the whole family will actually eat
  • Simple, natural living tips — without the guilt or overwhelm
  • Grace-filled encouragement for the hard, holy work of motherhood
  • Practical routines and home systems that make life feel just a bit less chaotic
  • Ideas for intentional parenting that doesn’t expect perfection

You don’t have to be “all in” on sourdough or chickens or essential oils to be part of this space. You just have to care about creating a home that’s thoughtful, warm, and full of life — and be open to growing alongside your kids.

My Promise to You

This won’t be a blog that tells you the only way to be a good mom is to grind your own wheat or throw away your microwave. This is a space for progress over perfection, for gentle steps, and for remembering that you’re already doing a beautiful job just by showing up with love.

Whether you’re a brand-new mom trying to figure out how to feed a baby and yourself at the same time, or a few kids in and craving more intention in your home life — I hope you’ll feel seen, supported, and inspired here.

So grab your coffee (hot or reheated for the third time), and let’s do this motherhood thing — together.

With love and a full laundry basket,
Courtney
